Dusty and Wyatt flown by Wrigley heiress to new homeHelen Rosburg is a very generous dog lover, by gum. The great-granddaughter of chewing-gum magnate William Wrigley chartered a private plane to transport  two beloved Anatolian Shepherd mixes, Dusty and Wyatt, when their dog dad, U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Andrew Morales, was transferred to a military base across the country.

Morales rescued the dogs in Afghanistan three years ago.

“In Afghanistan, they are pretty much your best friend,” Morales told WWAY. When Morales’ tour of duty ended, the Puppy Rescue Mission (PRM) arranged for the dogs to be flown to Morales’ base in Southern California.

Dusty and Wyatt “quickly became a big part of our family,” Kristen Morales, Andrew’s wife, told WWAY. “They’re my babies.”

This month Morales is being transferred to Camp Lejeune in North Carolina – and large commercial airlines are unable to land at the local Albert J. Ellis Airport. Morales called around, but none of the airlines that can land there could accommodate his two big dogs.

As a last resort, the Morales family decided to try to find volunteers who would drive their dogs across the country. When Morales contacted PRM and asked for its help, the organization posted his request on its Facebook page.

Rosburg saw the post when a friend shared it on her Facebook wall.

“Everybody in my circle knows what I do,” she told ABC News. “If they see an impossible situation, they’ll post something to my timeline.”

Rosburg, who raises German Shepherds, founded the animal-rescue nonprofit On the Wings of Angels Rescue. According to ABC News, the animal lover also has a menagerie of cats, pigs, chickens, goats, cattle, donkeys, rabbits and exotic birds on her Tampa, Fla., farm.

“He was going to lose his dogs and I said ‘Not on my watch,’” Rosburg told ABC News. “He’s a hero on so many different levels. The Wrigleys are an extremely patriotic family and I am a true Wrigley child.”

“From the bottom of me and my wife’s hearts, we really appreciate what she did for us,” Morales told WWAY.

Rosburg told WWAY she hopes to meet the two- and four-legged members of the Morales family the next time she’s in North Carolina.
